I realized I really loved this band when I saw how different this was from the album version, yet how I loved it equally as much. Maybe love isn't the word, utmost appreciation sounds about right.

when animal collective plays live, it isn't intended to sound at all like the album version. their whole thing is exploring musical boundaries, and that mostly is reflected in their vocal work when playing live. they focus on a minimal instrumental influences, and instead elaborate vocally. it isn't for everyone, but i personally appreciate the creative insight that goes into a live show.

it isn't intended to not sound like the album version, vocally it's not that elaborate time signatures they do in some of their songs album/live version's can be very complicated and just plain strange man....but I wouldn't say their mpp stuff live is that different, especially in '07-'08 this year though they really changed some of this stuff up.
