The Quran is amazing, He smiles because of how he sees his audience reaction, it is very natural for him to smile as he looks upon those hearing him. simple as that.
I wouldn't really call it shouting, but anyway its loud enough :) Yes they are amazed and some surprised, some happy, some excited. This my friend has a history to it in many countries, It is custom, it is culture and above it all it is religiously OK! The next time you hear a tajweed recitation, say yourself! what you! have wanted people to say :)
When you say "religiousity" ... you must not understand what "Religion" is, and where it is taken from. "Religiousity" is what Allah said, not what some cultures do.
In the Qur`aan Allah said: وإذا قرئ القرآن فاستمعوا له وأنصتوا "When the Quran is being recited, then listen to it attentively & BE SILENT, so that you may receive mercy"
Neither do I -- and I no "my" personal word will not "change" what happens in many "Muslim" countries in the world... and their culture -- I'm just posting the truth, the Qur`aan {{not a "fatwa"}} as a comment here on youtube... so maybe someone will read this & benefit, and perhaps spread the message to their friends/family. ** These are the etiquettes Allah wants us to observe when we listen Quran Recitations ;)

Is it because they're so amazed? Then they should say "Allahu Akbar", "Subhanallah", "Mashaa Allah", and so forth.
moreover we can see the sheikh is smiling during his recitation, is the quran funny? ...
