They are both different shows, the UK Office is more of a subtle mockumentary, and has darker humour because of it being more realistic. The US is more of an outright comedy, with some of the stuff that goes on not as believable. I think the distinction was made because alot of Americans would watch the UK version and think it was real and therefore not funny. Personally I love them both.
they both have their merits, I've seen both versions and although I like a couple of episodes from the UK version I like the US better although both characters Dwight and Gareth are just so greatly structured as CHARACTERS that they both are awesome and you'd be surprised there in many similar ways
Everyone's got an opinion. I just like the US version more because I haven't seen the UK one (guilty), and because how could there be two personalities like Dwight in both version...
