Agreed. I'm not a fan of Harmony's soundtrack, but this one and the Chapel are outstanding. (I take you got the game. Go to the skeleton cave and the aqueduct of Dragons. Listen closely to the tracks and then go to the Sound Select. If I'm not mistaking, you'll findcthose two switched :D)
yes, Chapel of Dissonance is also a good track. Most of the *compositions* are good, but IIRC, the used not the same sound programm as in CotM, so the quality is inferior. But then again, I could imagine that the focus was more on the excellent graphics. Yeah, I noticed the switched tracks too when I went to the Sound Select ^^
Actually the quality of the tracks in HoD exceed that of COTMs. CoTM is mostly badly-done remixes of songs from older games, whereas the tracks in HoD are complex, deep masterpeices that perfectly illustrate the abstract concept of the game.
What you're looking for is instrument quality, but I'm afraid the two are not comparable - the instruments in HoD appear "bad" to some, because they do not necessarily emulate established instruments like pianos, violins, guitars or any other instrument.
However, nor do they try too - the instruments are not emulations of conventional instruments but instruments in and of themselves - and they are comfortable being that. In other words, saying that the quality is bad because the instruments poorly emulate established instruments (as would be expected) is quite simply wrong because that's the point - they don't try too. HoD's soundtrack exists as a seperate entity, and more often then not reimagining the songs with real instruments destroys them.
