The driver of this video was obviously to drive in a certain manner. The traction control piece on ice was particularly ridiculous. He was attempting to drive on the ice from a dead stop first, then took a run on spinning the tires hard and finally he drove onto it using momentum and kept a steady throttle. The last one would have worked without traction control.
Traction control has its place but is over rated. Stability control on the other hand is truly valuable.
You're wrong about that. ABS takes longer to stop in ice and especially in snow. If you can lock up your tires in snow it builds up in front of the wheels and creates more friction to stop. Just pump the brakes to free wheel for a short distance to regain steering control. You've obviously never driven in serious winter conditions.
Early to Mid 90s GM and Chryslers were notorious for that. They didn't program their systems to account for snow. Many Japanese systems did. Honda's were superb.
The Honda ALB1 system in my 1990 Acura Legend is terrible on dry pavement. It is not quick enough to unlock the wheels. It chirps terribly, and when you get below 5mph it just goes into a skid. On gravel and ice it's a different story though. My car stops six feet shorter from 30mph on gravel, and much straighter. Same on Ice, very good stability when the system engages. It is still slow, and requires some back off on the pedal to turn.

Keep your eye on his front wheels...he did not even try to steer into it.
Why exaggerate...it makes this test useless or look phony...
I know ESP works well...I have it on my car, but this video sucks...the driver is an idiot...he put that car out of control deliberate...!
What... you think were are blind...?
