Jan 2008 Following worldwide outrage and condemnation over the infamous incident in Vancouver Internatational Airport of a polish immigrant being killed with a taser gun by 4 heavy-handed airport security staff members, we bring you an exclusive in-depth report on the tragedy in question, and how it connects to the on-going public debate about the use of lethal taser guns in mainstream civilised society.
On October 14, Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski was killed by the RCMP at Vancouver International Airport. A month later, millions saw the gut-wrenching ten-minute video taken by another traveler, Paul Pritchard, which showed unambiguously that this was an unwarranted execution. After a grueling 20-hour journey from Poland, Dziekanski, who spoke no English, spent ten hours in the airport waiting for his mother who was, unknown to him, only a few feet away in the public waiting area. The video shows a distressed and obviously harmless man confronted by four RCMP officers who within 25 seconds tasered him with 50,000 volts at close range at least twice. Seconds later Dziekanski is writhing on the ground, screaming in agony as the police crush him with their knees on his neck. Seconds later, he was dead.
Dziekanski's death sparked outrage across the country and internationally, and in B.C. it has become a focal point for a wave of animosity against the police force. In the days after Pritchard's video first aired, outraged people berated the RCMP at the airport and the four cops were reassigned "for the officers' own safety." Memorials were held in several cities and 1,000 people rallied on November 24 in Vancouver.

We still dont know enough about the circumstances of this man's death to debate fairly about the safety of taser guns. For example, he may have had pre-existing medical problems or problems brought about once the taser had been administered for example falling and hitting his head or fitting - people commonly dismiss these but these need to be considered. I am however against the Taser being used in this case simply because there was no confrontation with the police.
We belong to EU since 966 AD and Congress of Gniezno (1000 AD) when Otto III of Germany and Boleslaus I of Poland had the meeting. Now tell us something about Macedonia honey.
You macedonian dog you better say something positive about your country that isnt even in EU. Haha you even have coat of arms reminding soviet union :D your economy is shit and 50% of the population are gypsies. About prostitutes here are many macedonian ones next to bulgarian. Your economy is shit too. macedonia = lmao
it is sad that he died but he was clearly out of control. you can't go on like that and freak out in public. the police acted appropriately but i do think the taser gun should be reconsidered as a tool of the police.
If he didnt acted on the airport he will be still alive today. Its his fault. I saw the pictures too and I can say if he didnt throw furniture arround nothing would ever happend to him and the RCMP wouldnt taser him if he is so inocent like everyone is saying. And their is no reason to put the fault on the sholders from the RCMP.They handled correctly on the seen. I decided to make an taser test on me and Im still alive I said taser me 3 times behind and you can see Im still alive.
