you need vista to run dx10 or windows 7, and the game has to be optimized for it.

Then why do movies use special effects to do simple things like add more color to the image, such as god rays, and floating petals that Ridley Scott seems to like? Because we are more drawn into an image with more vibrant colors and exaggerated structures.

Watch an indie film even and they dick around with color, angles and focus to make the image more compelling and less lifelike.
