Carrie Underwood - Praying For Time - Idol Gives Back 2008

Carrie Underwood - Praying For Time. Nicely sung, however George Michael stays the Master of that song...

She has a great voice, but its difficult to sing the words with the same timing, emotion, and emphasis as the singer/songwriter of the song - George Michael.

It's like trying to wear a suit which is trailor-made for someone else - you can look good in it, but not perfect.

She did a very good job though.

Both kelly and carrie are amazing in their own ways. Carrie's voice is more clear, soft, and sweet and ringing voice and suits her style very very well. Kelly's has a higher chest voice, and can belt out notes amazingly while having a slight scratch(in a good way) and when she sings so much emotion shoes through, its ridiculous. Both are phenomenal singers. And both are the best american idols in their own ways. They cannot be compared.
There will never be winners like them again.

Carrie isn't just a country artist, she has the pipes for rock, pop, anything. Have you heard her sing Alone? Or her version of Desperado? Those are not country songs. Kelly Clarkson is the queen of shouting... her high notes are strained. Carrie's vocal range is absolutely graceful.

If society as a whole had to pick between the two, I'd choose Carrie. Why?

Because Carrie is a compassionate class-act, one who sticks to her values, principles, and faith.

And you're implying that Kelly doesn't "stick to her values"?

I admit that Kelly shouts in her songs, but she has a way of interpreting the songs and pouring her emotions out, that makes her still sound soulful.

The comparisons are getting tiring. They're both immensely talented, but very different artists, with different styles and genres. I can't figure out why people like to make out like there is some sort of rivalry between them.

I think we need both of them in the music biz(no doubt whatsoever). I will put it this way, It is really hard for me to remember what I was listening to before underwood and clarkson came to power.
