Sadly, all that is known or documented about this session is it took place in New York. Five recordings were made, two were issued as a single, this tune backed with "Satellite", and the rest were left unreleased. This was really one of the last (if not the last) great honking sax records cut by Prysock. Nothing he would do, in my humble opinion, ever matched the drive and energy the mid-50's Mercury recordings did. More of those are forthcoming!
Possible personnel on this session - Red Prysock and Rufus Gore (tenor sax), Lucius Weathers (vibes), Oliver Blair (piano), Leo Blevins or Mickey Baker (guitar), Herbert Gordy (bass), and Jerome Potter or Panama Francis (drums).
Red's fans almost always point to "Hand Clappin'" as THE Red Prysock cut. But, I disagree. This one rocks harder and really delivers what a rock and roll saxblaster should. The debating can start now. . .

There's no debating Red was the best of the genre. He was/is the tornado of the tenors; others just windy wannabes. He had a marvelous sound and technique. I caught him often in the 1980s, backing up brother Arthur with a jazz trio, and Red was swinging. Amazon has a CD: Swing Station; there's a British LP: Crying My Heart Out. He's on Bull Moose Jacksons "Big Ten Inch Record", and Wynonie Harris sides. Hear Tiny Bradshaw's band: "Soft," and, "Heavy Juice:" Red Classics. No debating.
You should be called SuperDave! Thanks for the Red Prysock. I just discovered him and I am groovin' to this song. I understand there is a recording of Red and Sill Austin battling it out. If you can find it, I'd listen. A lot. Thanks again.

Beats the hell of my mildly warped, played-to-within-an-inch-of-it s-poor-life copy.
