Light is a manifestation of the electromagnetic force, just like radio waves, infrared, UV, X-rays, etc.
Massless particles/waves called photons are the tiny things that provide this energy. In layman's terms, photons are pure energy; they have zero mass. They are emitted in a wide variety of physical reactions.
Light, like other electromagnetic waves (IR, UV, radio waves, X-rays, etc.) is carried by massless particles/waves called "photons." These photons, which have zero mass and can be regarded as pure energy, are given off in a wide variety of chemical and physical reactions.
In a nuclear fusion bomb, a certain amount of the mass of the molecules contained is actually completely destroyed upon explosion, and the amount of energy given off upon that annihiliation is given by E=mc^2.
Can anyone tell me how fast electron moves in a circuit. In one book i found, it moves very slow yes almost at dead slow speed (which i agree). Other say it move with speed of light which i disagreeeeee :). Also do you think higher voltage in circuit moves the electrons faster or slower?
Well electrons move very slowly in a circuit. This is known as the drift of electrons and in most of the cases it is very small (few fractions of centimeters per second). It is speed of propagation of energy that is very fast and could reach the speed of light. Now the speed of propagation depends on the resistance of the circuit.Greater the resistance lesser the speed smaller the resistance more the speed. Voltage is the driving force to create the motion of electrons.More voltage more current.
syedfezu: I agree with you except that an electron can never reach the speed of light, the closer it is to the speed of light the greater the amount of energy you need to apply. I believe speeds of 99.99999% of spedd of light were attained but never the speed of light.
Hi, l teach at a University, theories indicate that electrons flow at the speed of light 186,000 miles/sec. The higher the voltage the higher of amount of electrons that can flow, voltage is proportional to current, speed of electrons are relatively constant & it is best not to consider with respect to amount.
Very very slow, but the electric and electromagnetic field will be fast, 80-90% of C, depending on the conductor. The electric foce can be seen as a very hard "cushion" between all the electric charges (electrons, ions).
