Basically. Religion is what you get in church.

Evolution should be taught as scientific THEORY.

The definition of the word theory should be emphasized and clarified to children.

Theory is derived from observation. Religion is derived of faith. They are not antagonistic, nor are they to be commingled. That is all.

There is no basis to support any religion in the history of mankind; not a single shred of evidence has ever existed to support any deity.

Wasn't talking about evidence for religion: as I said, religion is of faith.

My point is that religion belief should never even have been put forward to be taught in school. It isn't the place for it. We teach evolution in school because it's scientific. It is based on observation and logic. That is what belongs in schools. If people want religion, they should find it in churchs rather than trying to implant it into an environment, in this case schools, where it doesn't belong.

And how does this discount what I said? Why do I have to discuss religion and evolution theory in regards to science? I didn't want to. Your reply to my initial reply is completely pointless and just wasted my time.

If you're trying to provoke me by being deliberately obtuse you are doing a good job. Otherwise, I would like to note then, that it was your initial reply that had nothing to do with what I wrote and therefore shouldn't have been attached as a reply to mine. Thanks.

I'm allowed to reply in part to anything you discuss. Get over it. My comment had some relevance. EXCUSE ME if it didn't touch on all the issues you wanted it to!!!

In essence, so what, Ron Paul is allowed to have a belief, like anyone else.
Plenty of people dovetail their science with all sorts of mumbo jumbo.
The discord comes when religion is taught as fact: the creationist lobbies puerile attempts to get religion put on equal footing with science, as a credible "alternative" explanation.
It's ok for a Christian country to teach religion, it should in fact be compulsory in the us and uk.
What's not ok is to teach that it's real.
Paradox indeed.

actually, he said he is for public schools as he and his children went through the ps system but he wants to get the government out of it so the quality of education will improve and states and communities/parents can run them. you can Google something like "Ron Paul opinion on public schools" or something.
