This explanation is a bit oversimplified. Shakespeare's "modern English" (Early Modern "Elizabethan" English) was actually quite different from our own, in pronunciation, vocabulary and the written word as well... It's fun reading letters and books and such from this time period because it's easy when you get over the spelling conventions and the use of weird letters like ſ and þ... but it's still not "the same", I think.
