I have seen veidos of Bill Hicks showing his deep respect to George Carlin. Carlin never sold products like pespi or coke, or anything that harms people ( He even did children shows). Well mabey a 10 cent phone call might hurt some people which on Complaints and Grievances he calls out on himself as a product seller.

Hicks and Carlin were pointing out the gross marketisation and consumerism of ALL aspects of our society and culture - does every fucking thing need to be a commodity to be bought and sold. Well these guys didnt think so and were warning us all for some time. Pity it takes M.Moore to put it in movie format for USA to understand whats going on with their society which is teetering on the brink of something unknown now!

i think that it's alright for artists to advertise for something as long as they truly believe in the product and can sincerely advertise the shit out of it.
PS Bill Hicks and George Carlin appeared on mainstream talk shows, TV series, movies, and news shows, which are all under corporate control. Everyone's a hypocrite, even the prophets.
