the qawwali is no doubt good but if you are interested in listening to Kabir's qalam one of the best recent renditions is by Abida Parveen.

The album is called "Abida Sings Kabir", it has a commentary by Gulzar and the whole album is very very good..

you are indeed right. abida's is one of the top voices today. melody, range, passion, control and knowledge, she has it all.

there is no comparison, but the fact remains that the simple and raw voices of these artists have made noteworthy contributions to keeping kabir alive in the hearts of listeners.

They have already been to Canada and returned home to Pakistan. I understand that they are presently on a tour of Switzerland for two weeks.

They will be performing in Montreal at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall on April 5th at 7 pm. The concert in Toronto is planned at the Noor Centre for April 12th. Ottawa is April 3rd.
