Bill the King. Letterman didn't have to censor Hicks in 1993. Similarly, he didn't have to apologize to his mother fifteen years later, and it's to his credit that he did so.

I'm no Letterman fan, and censoring Hicks was fucked up. To Letterman's credit he apologized to Bill's mom and realized he'd made a huge mistake. 15 years late is better than never, I guess.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Mary, she's an amazing woman and one of the kindest people I've ever met. She takes great pride in Bill, and rightly so.

There's no shame when it comes to humbling yourself in such a way, and realizing you made a mistake. This bit of class made up for it, IMO.
