Yes ... i said that : "Supercharged PC's". But the point is almost nobody (or a very small % of people) will have them ... compared to the market that has for eg a PS3. Also, its not just about graphics rendering power, a PC has a lot of other crap to deal with, a console is pipelined for one thing - gameplay.
Nah alot of people could now. The technology has long since gone mainstream. An 8800 is like $90 now. The cost to upgrade is a fraction of what it was 3 to 2 years ago.
1) There is not that many PC's with 8800's - still very few people have it vs PS3's 2) $90 is still expensive to many - specially as you need a decent PC too 3) IF the PC is not beefed up an 8800 will not do much 4) A game on PS3 developed FOR the PS3 (not just recompiled PC code) would give most high-end PC's stick 5) You can bet intel will release this as their newest hardware as preference ... ie - its gonna run like a dog on 80% of 8800's etc. ... consoles are better re that.
LMAo ! Such False Information. Believe whatever you want. Of Course Code has to be coded for the PS3. But they are still developed and tested on PC's and Dev Machines. $90 isn't expensive at all. And 2-3 gigs is ram is like the average nowadays. It's very easy to get a nice beefy computer. Especially when games nowadays are like required to work on the HD consoles. Then they ran at Higher Resolutions on PC. My examples are Bioshock, Fallout 3, Call of Duty, Gears Of War,Unreal Tournament. etc
I'm a software engineer, so I'm not going to let you tell me what You think is right. haha. 1) - Many people have G80 cores, or even better. 2) - When you get into LCD TV's and so on, it's about the same. 3) - This will run fine and look good on something that's not near as powerful as the G80 Core, it's more about memory usage. 4) - Yes, same for xbox, but that's incredibly expensive to do, unless you have someone like sony behind your development/production. --#5 in a second comment.
Cool so am I for 25 years, the last 4 in game platforms. 1) Currently around 10% of 'gamers' have 8800's ... thats hardly 'many' 2) You're forgetting about the expensive PC needed to make good use of the G80 3) No it won't. Anything less than a good 8800 card on good hardware will not run this as good as a PS3 etc. 4) Why should Sony be behind it? ... the developer pays for dev and gets millions of sales. ...
-- Continued. 5) Most games that run on a decent PC will look half as good on console, as they do on PC, due to memory usage, low resolutions, anti-aliasing, even some post process filters will be cut down.. Most Decent PC's have much more memory than the PS3, or 360.
5) This is plain silly. How can an intelligent person say something like that? A PS3 for example is specially built to achieve all those goals. A PC on the other hand will have those issues ... operating system hogging memory, graphics IO affected by what's happening on the bus, etc.
Re OLD : Why not? I like Offset. Why reply to it then?
--One more thing.. This is being developed for the PC platform only, because the PS3, and 360 are pretty much old now. It's true. This engine is pushing it to the next level, for a next-gen game. Right now, 360/PS3 are Current Gen.

Before this is out you will all have upgraded your PC hardware (yet again). Had it been PS3 ... you'd still have the same 4 year old box.
As for 'next gen' this project has been in development 5 years ... in that time you've prob upgraded yr PC a few times already.
Whats it matter how old a PS3 is? At 1080p no-one can complain about graphics.
