"all natural" doesn't = safe
arsenic is all natural and is not considered safe. Regulation will prevent false claims and will ensure testing of products for safety and quality.I see nothing stated in these arguments against this bill that are compelling in any way. They are made up of logical falicies:.Ad hominem
An ad hominem argument is any that attempts to counter anothers claims or conclusions by attacking the person, rather than addressing the argument itself.

In reality, many alternative practices are less effective, and can carry serious risks (usually undisclosed to the patient). Ive gathered some examples of risks associated with common alternative practices that have been described by the CDC and in the medical literature:
Colon cleansing: amebiasis, Fourniers gangrene.Herbal supplements: fulminant hepatic failure, bladder cancer, arsenic poisoning, anticholinergic poisoning, lead poisoning, severe hemorrhage, hepatic failure.

Do we really need the government hiring a ton of new inspectors to be Herb and Vitamin police?

Come on, get real. Natural health products are proven to be safer than Peanut Butter.

With a $40 Billion deficit do you honestly think its wise to spend more money to police things like Garlic pills and Oregano oil?

This is about pharmaceutical companies squashing the competition, so you have no alternatives. The bill is a scam, there is no problem, why try to fix something which is working?

Zomb1es sounds like a gov't shill. Why does it affect Z's life so much if Z does not care for these products or believe in them?
Don't even bother responding to this person in my opinion.
There is no use. The paycheck depends upon Z's ability to use neuro linguistics to put the readers back to sleep...just like the CHFA and similar "representatives" are doing while their hands are in the pockets of government.

The government should focus its resources on solving serious problems, such as the mass murder of its citizens by the never ending wave of quack, dangerous Pharmaceuticals. Hundreds of thousands of people DIE each year from properly prescribed Pharmaceuticals. That is dangerous, unacceptable, immoral, evil and ILLEGAL.

Natural health products are safer than peanut butter, and with the current laws have not killed a single person.

The Natural Health Product Regulations already recognize that natural health products are different from drugs, and that the evidence requirements for drugs are not appropriate for natural health products. Bill C-51 does not change this. In fact, Bill C-51 supports different requirements for different types of products. Therefore, the standards that are used to assess the risks and benefits of natural health products will continue to incorporate history of use, traditional uses .

I don't want my tax dollars being used to regulate the safety of something like garlic or oregano.

This is a waste of money and resources. With thousands of Canadians dying each year from Pharmaceuticals we need to focus on the real problem.

I don't think we need the government telling us what plants we can eat and how much. That is stupid and so are you for supporting this bill.

1. How will Bill C-51 change the way natural health products are regulated?

Bill C-51 will not affect the way that natural health products are regulated in Canada. The Natural Health Product Regulations, introduced in 2004, will continue to operate the same way under the proposed Bill C-51. Bill C-51 has been drafted to complement and support current policies for natural health products.

Anecdotal evidence is perfectly acceptable when used in the court of law, as is scientific evidence.
