TOP 10:Combat Rifles - FN FAL (NO.5)

It's got better than average accuracy (on semi-auto) not sure why anyone would even want to use it on full auto though. Hit your target once and it's gone! Anyway good to see that they are still making updated versions of the FAL & G3. On a side note:
the 417 and the SCAR are gonna be awesome btw.

They said the warzones of Africa. Thats why it is on far cry 2 and is personally my favorite on that game.

idk if it was because of this video but i had a dream 2 weeks ago that i was in the falkland islands and the land was desolate and littered with FALs! lol as soon as i picked one up i saw argentinian soldiers came outta nowhere n attacked me n i returned fire with the FAL and took out most of them.i ran outta ammo then tha dream ended.

AU25 you raise a very good question. The construction of the G3 is different and is a fine rifle and the FAL is accurate enough for combat. An argument for either rifle can be made. They are both fine rifles. Both rifles can be accurised for sniper use. The argument ends up coming down to personal preferences.

It is fuckin sexy, optics or not. And yes, your right, the H&K roller system, a-la G3 is far superior to, at least in my opinion, all other recoil systems. However, anything more sophisticated than straight gas works fine. The G3 only flaw is from basic german design philosophy- design the perfect weapon, and then train experts to manipulate the awkward controls. the G3 is, honestly about as ergonomic as a sideways wooden chair. the FAL just 'fits' and makes sense to the body. If your not tiny.

Now be fair. Ergonomics is basically dependent on everyones personal taste. I handled the NATO-club (that's at least how we called the G3) during my conscription and I got used to it in two or three days.

No, arguably that was my point. Only a fool would describe the G3 as anything but beautiful mechanically, but its the same as so many german weapons- advanced in design, painful and awkward on the hands. You can get good at them- you seem to be quick at it. But they aren't 'natural,' I guess the psychology that makes such superior german weapons doesn't do human interface as well. The belgians have always done well though.

I carried the G3 and FAL both. I found the FAL easier to service/repair/teardown under duress (under fire). They are both fine rifles. either one would put your man down when you need him dead. I carried the FAL for years. Its simplicity made me appreciate it. But a case can be made for either rifle. That is why they both appear in the world's trouble spots.

Don't get me wrong- I respect the Belgians arm smithing above the Italians, above my own country's (US). But I really have it bad for H&K. There should be no question they are at the very head of the pack. The word 'German' drags too much politics into it. I'm talking design here. FN, CZ, Italia, and the US would be your major league. Rus, Israel, S. America- just below that. If you want wine, look to France. But if you want a gun, go to the Hun. That hasn't changed since they were invented.
