Yes, American bandstand footage of him was stolen along with Holly's and Bopper's after the crash. He did a few other TV appearances one even in color, but videotape was expensive back then and often reused destroying the original recording.This is why there is hardly any Johnny Carson footage from the Sixties. Hendrix, Lennon And MaCartney, and several others all lost.

ritchie valens broke that latino barrier doing la bamba, before that latinos even changed their names to sound white, after La Bamba, they all said fuck this. then the Santana, and Cumbias, and All the latino artist, linda rondstats started doing spanish music. This man is legend

Who cares of this is "lesser know" personally I like this song more than la bamba. It's pure rock n' roll and makes
50's pop look stupid, I love his vocals here too.
