does anybody have any recomendations when it comes to music similar to this style? I'd assume this is an oldie/ 60 / 70's style. I don't like too much 'popular' stuff so I'm looking for some stuff unlike the Beatles or the ronettes

If you're really intrested in the early 60's girl group sound and style, look for girl group compilations. Look for things by the Dixie cups, The Pixies Three, The Murmaids, and The Shangralas. There were so many others that were from this era which I liked a lot when I was growing up. This style and sound was different from say the Supremes. You can also look for some Philadelphia groups like the Orlons, The Bluebells, and others. Enjoy.

Also look for the "Lets Go Joe Meeks Girls" compilation for this heavy echo girl group sound. If you haven't heard of him, Joe Meek was a british record producer of the 60's who had major hits. The biggest was Telstar an instrumental by the Tornados. He used a lot of echo and that was a major part of his sound. If you find these I think you'll like them.
