its not hype, this vid shows the construction of a drum solo, any drummer worth his weight in gold can furiously put together frantic wailing, but Neil builds a solo...having seen many of his solos, i say he may not be the best drummer in the world, but he is damn good at his craft...and to call it hype is a little silly

What separates Neil Peart from so many other drummers is that he plays clean. Very precise. As for his influence....just ask any of those drummers who influenced them and Neil's name will always come up. This is not a rock star or a drummer playing, but a musician and a percussionist. There is a BIG difference!
