It was AWESOME for its time, and would still be sensational, providing they updated the special effects.
The greatest misconception was that the show was merely a half-hour commercial to sell the interactive toys (which were cool, but had an inconsistent interface). The show was actually conceived and initial episodes written long before Mattel's tie-in contract. Also, the show was much darker and more sophisticated than anything else primarily marketed to kids before or since.
It wasn't bad, but I think it was like the real ghostbusters, which JMS also wrote-a lot of it went over the heads of the kids that watched it. It is very unique though in being a live action series for kids-during that time I'm not sure a pure-live action one existed, only something like Kidd Video which bookended animation with live action.
Wow! I used to love watching this show, my friend from across the street always had the toys you were supposed to use (during the show!) to help Captain Power defeat the bad guys! Silly fun!
Man, the CGI is sooo dated in this! I'd be cool if the title holders of this show updated the CGI and re-released but todays kids most likely would just thumb their noses at it and go play around with their Xboxs. Times have changed.....
This was much better than VR Troopers. VR Troopers was cheesy as hell and painful to watch, while this was actually cool! This never recycled any scene from any Japanese series and featured the first CGI characters ever!
i remember this and visionaries were my shit when i was like 6 or 7. and i remember balling my eyes out when they killed pilot in the finale. looking back this show was definitely way ahead of its time.
