Wrong. Intelligence had little to do with the South losing the Civil War, and even then they had better generals than the Union. You should have payed more attention in social studies class so that your ignorant little brain wouldn't be making baseless assumptions and denigrating blanket generalizations.

In other words, after the 1960s, it just seemed like the South couldn't do anything right politically. It was the end of an era and they took a lot of hits, more so than any other part of the country, for what had been a way of life in the US for nearly 100 years (segregation). The South had segregation by law, but many Northernerns practiced it as well. Yankees never really felt that black people were American anyway.
