BTW, this vid is flawed and lacking in accuracy and lacking in explaining anything about real Wicca. Gods and spirits do NOT give Wiccans Magick/powers. Magick is a natural phenomenon like sound or gravity, learning/using magickcraft is like martial arts; you access/use energy, use different techiques while one applies their will and intent.
@jeremiad86 Spells are ceremonial and ritualized prayer, it's pretty much the same thing as a christian folding hands or a muslim bowing on his prayer. The only real difference is that spells use both the power of the spellcaster and the deity.
@ginkiba3 I have become very interested in Pagan religion, I'm kind of an Atheist because I don't really believe in supernatural things like the soul, magic or a supernatural god. But I do appreciate nature so much, to me it is worth worshiping and perhaps naming it god. Kind of like Pantheism or Taoism. Can you be a wiccan and still have my point of view or do you have to believe in the supernatural?
Wicca doesn't have an official doctrine when dealing with theology so if you can adapt to the core beliefs then it's possible to be an atheistic wiccan. They are wiccans who are polytheists, monotheists, deists and even agnostics. In my opinion the Lord and Lady aren't personal deities, they don't get involved with daily life but are rampant in the natural world since Wicca is Pantheistic. But almost all Wiccans recognize a "force" in the world. Most inerpret that as divinity but you can (con..)
(con)not worship it at all and simply see it as how scientists view nature. So long as you respect and honor nature and practice the rituals, even if you don't believe in them, is being Wiccan. The whole purpose of the religion is getting in touch with nature, be it a concept, god or energy.
You're thinking renaissance fare. Some Wiccans including believe in Wicca's mythical history. Instead of Wicca being around 60 years old, they believe Wicca is thousands of years old, going so far to say it's the oldest religion on earth. An old witchcraft cult of the British Isles that went underground in the middle ages, so they wear these outfits to remember those days, even though this myth has been disproven many times and they're black because supposedly it attracts energy for spells.
hey, i just got to tell you. wicca is what you might call a personal religion in my opinion. meaning that if you want to know how to bring it into your life you should just read a few good books about it (like "wicca"- scott cunningham, for start) and with time you will how to make it your own.
