Thanks, but I don't think you know me well enough to tell me what humour I "get" and "don't get".
I simply made an objective criticism of the piece based on the content and the performance - niether of which support the idea that this is Tommy's "best ever sketch".
Differant Type Of Humour Mate. You Wouldnt Get It. Like Old Ronnie Corbett And The End Of The Two Ronnies. Just Sat there Telling A Story That Took For Ever And The Story Was Crap. But The Waay He Carried It Out Was Tremendous
Amusing, and oddly touching, but not hysterically funny. The sketch went on a little too long, and there were definitely moments when ol' Tommy was going through the motions with the hat-switching. Also, the story being told lacked any real interest in itself - in fact it was rather dull - and meandered to an abrupt and anti-climactic stop.
No doubt TC was a very funny man, but objectively this sketch doesn't stand up as either a comedic masterpiece or his best ever routine.
