On top of that would you ppl risk your childrens life to prove a point.Thats what they r willing to do right now.Prove even if it means death to everybody.I totaly agree the money should be spend otherwise than that.
Personally, I'm not pessimistic. I'm just cynical at huge expensive scientific projects that provide no immediate solutions to the existential threats facing humanity right now. As ever, there's no sense of priority. But I guess creating black holes in one of the world's richest nations is more "media-sexy" than providing clean drinking water to third world nations.
