i saw this song in my gcse history class... its alkways stuck in my head, the fact she was singing this in clubs that blacks couldnt even go in.. just wow its soo sad... brilliant woman.. brilliant..

And lets not forget black on black crime. Basically anybody who tries to sum up anybody else based solely on their colour is an IDIOT.

this song makes me cry ....it just makes you think how people were so cruel back in the day...

whatever anyone thinks this lady was graceful and she exspressed herself though her song and its only the bitter twisted minds to pull something else out of her songs.
people out there dont have to put up wive this person that posted this but on the other hand if we do not then this meens that he/she wins against us and that can not be allowed either so what is it going to be. put up wive the arogant imbilesil or just forget he/she and listen to billy holiday a fantastic lady :)

Your making the point. That (what the song is about) was a part of history. Just like slavery, colonisation, blablabla. Best that can done now and never repeat the mistake again by learning from history as you say. Problem is that history still goes on, and mistakes will still be done. And people are still discriminating what we might call the Muslims today ?? Terrorists ? Or whatever social groups characterised by traits that make them different and disposable. We havent changed so much.
