A Book of Celtic Wisdom

Anam Cara is a Gaelic word meaning soul friend. It symbolises a spiritual friendship that is not affected by time, distance, or separation. In the old Celtic tradition, the Anam Cara was someone you could share your innermost self, mind and heart. This soul friendship was an act of recognition and belonging helping us return to the heart of our spirit.

It is strange to be here. The mystery never leaves you alone. . . . We take each other's sounds and make patterns, predictions, benedictions, and blasphemies.

Each day, our tribe of language holds what we call the world together. Yet the uttering of the word reveals how each of us relentlessly creates.

Everyone is an artist. Each person brings sound out of silence and coaxes the invisible to become visible.
A friend is a loved one who awakens your life in order to free the wild possibilities within you.

Love opens the door of ancient recognition.

The one you love, your anam cara, your soul friend, is the truest mirror to reflect your soul.

When two people come together, an ancient circle closes between them. . . . When you really love someone, you shine the light of your soul on the beloved.

The human person is a threshold where many infinities meet. There is the infinity of space that reaches out into the depths of the cosmos and the infinity of time reaching back over billions of years.

A sacrament is a visible sign of invisible grace. In that definition there is a fine acknowledgment of how the unseen world comes to expression in the visible world.
