TwoUselessLegs, George Harrison never seems to attract the lofty, higher educated admirers of say, John Lennon. He seems to attract a lesser quality fan base, largely comprised of housewives, teenage girls and Joe six-Pack. The lower strata of the society. Little wonder George is played non-stop on fluffy, SOFT-ROCK stations, along side Neil Sedaka and John Denver and The Monkees.
I've never heard of such a ridiculous statement. The idea that certain fans have a finer 'quality' than others is such an asshole-ish view. 'Housewives, teenage girls, and Joe six-packs'? Such a ridiculous and random stereotype!
ALS- Paul complained that George seldom understood complex chord structures or pentatonics. Often, Paul had to physically TAKE the guitar from George in order to show him what he wanted. George had heart, but little else. Even those rare moments when the Beatles created history with the strategic use of feedback or power chords, George was seldom behind it. George Martin was behind the opening chord to "Hard Day's Night". The feedback on "I Feel Fine" was all Lennon. This is NOT my "opinion".
I suppose the beauty of 'Something' or 'Here Comes the Sun' and the other classic Harrison songs are totally disregarded, then. Oh, as well as his introduction of the Sitar and other outside influences.
And I SERIOUSLY doubt that Paul could out-play George or John when it's raw instrumental skill. I think you're pulling a lot of this out of your ass. God knows what your reasons are.
George's music was little better than his voice. While I'm sentimental about the Beatles in general, I have always thought of George as being the weak-link in an otherwise perfect musical ensemble. His pedestrian command of the guitar, his overuse of the slide, his clunky melodies, awkward lyrics, weak and effeminate voice relegated George to the basement of the Beatle legacy. That he was caught plagiarizing other people's music didn't help his reputation, either. You can have George.
To Master Jack, and his ilk. Sign yourself in some where and get help. You have a diseased mind. Harrison did not deliberately plagiarize this music. His voice is not effeminate as you suggest. However, Lennon's was.
