This clip from the 1999 US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) video, Asbestos Managing Problems, Addressing Concerns, shows good containment procedures to prevent the spread of the asbestos during building abatement and demolition. Over the past 20 years, with more stringent US regulations in place concerning the use of asbestos and greater awareness of the health effects of the material, many buildings with asbestos problems were abandoned by corporations and left for the government to clean up. These buildings still present a threat due to large amounts of asbestos containing materials (ACM). Tragically, asbestos building materials and other products, such as brake shoes, are still being used in the US in 2008.

  • i do this shit everyday......this is just regs. u actually dont wet the shit before and after, u just set up walls, tape em tight, remove what ur removin, yellow bag'em, TOSS EM, not gentle placing down.

  • Rip and tear asbestos removal allows your employer to make huge profits. They likely bid the work as if they would use all the required procedures. All the saving (mostly in work hours) goes into their pocket and the workers lose out on pay and get exposed to asbestos.

  • I need to remove a popcorn ceiling with asbestos. I can't afford to get it removed by professionals. Is a P2 dust mask enough if I keep the surface wet at all times?

  • A P2 type respirator is not protective enough for asbestos. Get a full facemask type with HEPA / P100 filters. You must also be fit tested and trained to use it.

  • @Nazizombies97 alright... cuz like... we wer breathing extremly hard in that area.. but when we left ot go play another area... (not an asbestos area) we wernt having that problem! so... i hope im fine ... after all... the symtoms dont show until at least 10-15 years after ur exposed... :D

  • @therealsteve2437 If the pipe itself is an ACM (Asbestos Containing Material) i this is almost definitely asbestos cement which is very hard and unlikely to release fibres easily through normal day-to-day use, however if the pipe is covered by asbestos insulation, lagging etc this is quite a problem as it can readily release fibres into the atmosphere IF there isn't sufficient encapsulation of the asbestos.

  • @xXBOOMER760Xx dud if u were playing pball there for an hour or two ur fine i wouldnt worry 2 much, ive been in abandoned mental hospitals that have it
