FreddyD7, who cares to be politically correct these days. Double standards are around everyday, look people like what they like and dislike what the don't like i mean its not hard to understand. Why should people accept things they don't understand or dislike. im just sayin! oh and Bill was way ahead of his time and i find everything he says funny to this day!

Any one else find it really disconcerting to find people applaud and cheer after Bill says, "This is absolutely disgusting"? That's the whole point of the joke. The double standards people have.

Yeah... Letterman and the US media/studio/corp. mainstream knew they would have had a shitstorm of complaints and controversy...
He was very restrained, no mention of abortion(which would really have stirred things up) and had polished his act down to the most palettable version for mass consuption.
Letterman had no balls... If he was really in charge in the first place.

I love Bill Hicks and he was awesome and I'm against censorship, but I can see how Letterman would pull that.

At first I was upset with Dave for this..but then I realized, we all fuck up...and to error is human, to try to correct wrongs shows real character..and for that, Dave? You have earned my respect, and respect of many. It takes BALLS to admit when you are wrong...and that is why you are the precident of CLASS in late night...You hear me, LENO? Take notes.

@nickslick75 Nah that biopic is miles away from materialising. It was reported to be in the pipeline over 2 years ago. I don't think there would be any pressure on Letterman even if it were true about the movie coming soon. He made the decision a long time ago to cut out Bill. Its all a bit late in the day but fair play I think Bill would appreciate the apologetic gesture. Even if it was just for familys sake.

@ortaparmak Bill Hicks was definitely not homophobic. He was just doing some of his standard reactionary smut. The man loved girl on girl. Its in a bunch of his material. Basically 'shock and awe' stuff. He was extremely well read, philosophical and informed. This routine just touches on his act as it's watered down for the mainstream. A great book on him is 'Agent of Evolution' which is pretty telling of the sort of guy he was. Far from perfect but definitely not homophobic.

Letterman did the right thing. But why 15 years later? Still, its great to see a man like Bill Hicks remembered. Bloody genius
