i liked this quite a bit because it kept more to the original story, peter pan was quite a romantic story as well and they put that in this film. the cartoon one just always pisses me off.

I think the only thing I enjoyed in this movie was Caption Hook. He was just the right "touch" of evil, and as I read the book (I didn't see this movie until after) I kept imgening he'd look like that.

Disney's Pan was an elf in tights who made a tragic antagonist seem like a blubbering idiot. Don't get me wrong, I love the Disney film, but it was practically an insult to the actual book, it was so watered down.

Heh, you see. Me personally I'm a huge fan of fantasies like Dragonlance. And in such books there actually is an elf like character in a Peter Pan-ish suit. So this doesn't bother me.

It's all personal taste, but I like Disney's Pan more then the one in this movie. I actually never read the original book.

I can't help but suggest that you read the book. While I enjoy just about every version of Pan that I know of, the book is so incredible it puts them all to shame, at least in my opinion. Also, Hook is an incredible villain in the book, tragic yet brilliant, and I think it's sad that Disney, which has so many films with amazing villains made him look like a joke.
