nice results, though the dstance is not that big, you should consider it to as a sphere, and thus, those points are actually near..

When dealing with human consciousness, cultural distance would be more important than kilometers..
Alaska and Los Angeles and sometimes New Zealand would react to almost the same (western cultural) events, while minds in russia, mexico and china reacts to other, for them more important events.
Did you check your data for that parameter, too?

You are misrepresenting the true distance between Los Angeles and New Zealand. Also, the distance between any point on the globe plus the diameter of the earth is the same point on the globe. Nothing is X [X=diameter of the globe] apart from anything else, because that distance puts it nearer to it!
