i always thought one of Springsteen's greatest gifts was his ability to tell a story in his music and this song is a prime example

Like so many of springsteens songs sounds better live than the album version. I was also at the hamden Glasgow gig, amazing :) Wish he would release another live album like the one in 1986

I agree with you about not being able to have a favorite. It changes. For the longest time my favorite was The Promised Land, before that Thunder Road, and now it's Land of Hope and Dreams. Others were Bobbie Jean, No Surrender, even Waiting on a Sunny Day for a while.
I like Land of Hope and Dreams, probably because I love the way Max drums in the middle of it. Just so powerful and it fits with the song, etc.
