I totally agree with you and we almost turned it off also... I am a Canadian and I will say that I didn't care for this movie at all. I didn't understand those parts either, way too far fetched.
well my family and I were all thinking the same thing, why on earth would the doctors wife not try to do something sooner since she was the only person who could have prevented those creeps from having cotrol and doing what they did. We were so upset and frustrated with her for that.
I asked about the location because I had the impression of seeing a Brasilian city, since I live in Brasil. But at the same time, some other scenes looked very unfamiliar to me. So, as someone has answered before, it was filmed in Sao Paulo, Toronto and Montevideo. I guess they do this way so that the city can't be recognized by most of the people, and the plot takes place over the scenario.
