Short Video showing off my newly completed Ebike conversion. running a cyclone style midmount motor (500W 24V) i am running on a NI-Mh battery pack @ 24V 18AH. i am also running a Cycle Analyst for instant readouts of the electrical system. top speed so far has been 60 km/h. Range on the current battery should be about 28km to 80% DOD (with moderate peddling).
i will have a video of the bike being ridden up shortly.
I have only been on one 13km test ride so far. 13km took 137 watt hrs (or 6.1AH) this battery is 432 watt hrs (or 18AH).
i have changed the MTB type tyres to serfas drifter semi slicks for improved on road performance and lower rolling resistance. added a Delta Air Zound air horn (rated at 115Db) also added a cheap etrex GPS.
The only things left for me to do are to change the rear gear set for a Nuvinci hub, and run a LiFeP04 battery pack.
The LiFeP04 battery upgrade should happen very soon, then the true potential of this motor should be known.

the reason i went with the cyclone was the ability to gear to suit the terrain. i find i can go up the steepest of hills at almost 25km/h in 3rd (with pedal assist)
i considered the ping and cammy batteries, but their lack of high continuous loads ultimately ruled them out.
i needed a battery that can deliver 2C cont, and 3C peaks with out tripping the BMS. my new LiFeP04 Pack is more than capable., but at a price premium.
i go by the handle of diamondback on the ES forums.
A very nice build of a notoriously difficult/problematic kit. You seem to have it well-mastered. I'm running a PING LiFePo4 36/20 on my eZee front wheeled cruiser bike, and like that battery just fine. The great advantage of the Cyclone, is, as you know, the ability to gear up and down to suit speed and road conditions. But for me: super simple is good enough. I hang at Endless Sphere forums. Are you a member there? It's a great, laid-back ebike forum. Cheers, Reid

?
how long this motor will last?
i would possibly even go as far as to recommend the larger more powerful motors too.
like the 650W or even the 1000W versions.
if you do not abuse these motors, they should last almost indefinitely. many thousands of kilometres at the minimum.
by not abusing the motor, i mean do not overload it. don't try to run it at too low an rpm.
they don't like low rpm's.
so when you pedal, withouty the motor running, the motor does not turn.
