No, not for copyright. It takes more than changing a few lyrics to have the right to record a song, permission is still needed. I don't know what's necessary, if anything, to do in a live concert, but I expect the rules are far looser, if they apply at all. But musicians changes lyrics for any number of reasons. Copyright wouldn't be it.

I heard it was about a one-night stand. DAAS liked to tell people it was about a necrophilliac.

To me personally, it is about much more. And it may also be to DAAS now as well since performing it at For Holly and such.
