i think that they need to bring back corporal punishment. some parents aren't spanking their kids or punishing them in any way and when their kids do something wrong, they think that they won't get into trouble or that they can get away with it. those boys had no right in defacing that bus seat. those are expensive to replace. kids today have no respect for ANYTING! and you know that he didn't get punished when he got home. parents don't punish their kids anymore so someone has to.

Ruining property is no reason to hit them. I don't care if it doesn't seem wrong to you. There's a reason why people don't do it anymore. If the parent doesn't see it as worth hitting them, then nobody else should, regardless of whether or not they believe they should.

Parents responsibility to Discipline their children within reason. I do not mean by beating old school, what ever you can your hands on style. I've seen from my own fam. history what that does to people. However, with that said, children do have to respect authority and that begins in the home. NO, the principle should not have touched the child considerin his age etc....she should be brought up on charges and the PARENT should have been notified immediate and brought to the school,
