[My first recorded video ever.]
The San Francisco Presidio.
It boasts some of the most spectacular views of anywhere along the pacific coast. Susan, Mike, Stephanie and I visit one of the park's beaches with the best views. Although I can't reference it's name, I can reference its location. It extends from the southern anchorage of the Golden Gate Bridge southward about a mile to a steep and very unstable rocky outcropping about 800-1000 ft. high. Also, this is one of two nude beaches at the Presidio. The other is just south of this one and known as "North Baker Beach;" The former is most visited by gay men, the later is not. However, today there was only one die-hard nude dude; it was the beach itself that was naked of its people.
It was, strangely, exhilarating to be alone on a vast expanse of beach. The desolation added to the dramatic nature of the place. Here, you are surrounded by 360 degrees of spectacular vistas. The beach-strand is vast, but narrow. On the east side are the jagged and rocky faces of the coastal bluffs that rise steeply toward the sky. Dead-ahead northward is the monolithic immensity of the southern tower of the Golden Gate Bridge, and beyond that are the waters of the Golden Gate that go sparkling in the sun. Toward the west you see the Marin Headlands towering out of the sea, covered in a vivid green seen only at this time of year. Southward and westward you see the wide open Pacific Ocean go on endlessly.
Impressed by these views, I tried to capture them in this flick, my first-ever video recording, and it was made with my laptop as the camcorder! Props to Apple for standardizing the built-in iSight lens!
The film time is 1 min. and 45 sec.
It is in ".mov" format (Quicktime 7) (if that matters).
The best-captured views appear at the beginning and end, and it was recorded on a Saint Patrick's Day afternoon in 2007.
