I'm tired of this horseshit. It's alright to want someone in your life, but as soon as you need someone it's a bad thing? Is it alright to want to eat because you need the food? So why isn't alright to want a partner because you need the companionship? We all need someone in our lives, but for some reason I have to pretend like I don't if I want a partner. The whole thing is fucked up and you're not helping.

    Nonsense.

Instead of teaching people "You have to love yourself before you can love others”, teach them something much closer to the truth: If you love yourself too much, you won’t have enough love left for anyone else.

This N. American fallacy of only being allowed to "want" someone, rather than "need", is why divorce rates are skyrocketing, & why people only date. True love: The other person MUST fill a void in your life, or they are merely a "wanted" accessory that can be easily discarded.

I agree, but in this case I think this example fits better: There is nothing wrong with a person who buys their own food and eats it. A person is an annoyance (therefore not attractive) if they are always mooching off of other people. People will not like you for this and you can't just excuse yourself by saying, "But I NEED food." Everyone needs food. If I can provide myself with food without mooching off someone else, you can too.

and just for keeping everythings clear its alright to need someone from time to time but not all the time kalarchis uses the question: is it alright to want to eat because you need the food? well yes but I say that most ppl DONT EAT ALL DAY long you ,only NEED to eat about 3-5 times a day and you shouldnt eat just because your afraid of being hungry that will make you obese and unheathy if you can understand me

she clearly says that its alright to want a relationship but doing it because your afraid to be alone is wrong 2:06- 2:30 its better to say like I dont need a man to complete or heal me but if I find a guy that I like he can make me laugh and help me have more fun, I might want to keep him close, the kind of neediness she is talking about is when you think you wont survive on your own and would try despreately to keep yourself in a relationship, just for the sake of not being alone
