Here is the man Zancanaro absolutely ripping the aria from Il Tabarro. Enjoy!

I simply adore this man. Unfortunately, there is not much in the way of studio recordings. With all the CDs devoted to Tom Hampso, at least a single CD of operatic arias w/Zancanaro would be great to have.

Does anyone happen to know of the existence of a complete TABARRO w/Cecchele & Zancanaro??

    Thanks

Actually, still performing occasionally! Seemingly only in Zurich, where he sang Amonasro as recently as November 2008! As for the quality of his voice now, I have no idea, but one hopes he is enjoying life - opera lovers owe him a lot!

Yes. He sang in Faust and Puritani in San Francisco, in Trovatore and Ballo at the Met, and he even sang Guglielmo Tell in San Antonio in anticipation of singing it at La Scala. He also recorded Tosca in Philadelphia.

That he didn't sing in the U.S. more often was his own choice. In the late 1980s there was a lot of ink spilled in the press about the Met's inability to secure the services of the best singers. Zancanaro and Renato Bruson were frequently mentioned in this context.
