- la scoperta del Radio, effettuata insieme al marito Pierre, e del Polonio;
- il Premio Nobel;
- i Congressi Solvay;
- la creazione della prima unità radiologica mobile durante la prima guerra mondiale;
- la realizzazione dell'Istituto del Radio presso l'Università di Parigi.

Nell'Istituto del Radio la figlia di Marie, Irene, insieme al marito Frederic Joliot, fece la sensazionale scoperta della radioattività artificiale e la trasformazione di un elemento in un altro mediante bombardamento con particelle alfa.
