On the Season Premiere of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution filmed in Los Angeles and aired on April 12, 2011, Jamie demonstrates how 70% of America's ground beef contains leftover cow parts (a.k.a. "pink slime") containing e.coli and salmonella that has been treated with ammonia. Ammonia treated meat can be found in virtually all conventional grocery stores, fast food restaurants, many national restaurant chains, and school cafeterias. The saddest part is that the USDA allows this ammonia treated meat to enter the marketplace and with no labeling requirement on the packaging to inform the consumer that the meat their about to buy contains ammonia, thus hiding the truth and pulling a wool over the consumer's eye. This is certainly a rude awakening to the majority of Americans that don't know where the meat in their fridge, the meat in their conventional local grocery store, the meat in their fast food hamburger, and the meat in their restaurant made hamburger comes from. How do you avoid this poison? Buy beef that has come from grass fed cows, which can be found at natural and organic grocery stores and your local farmers market. No matter the size of your town or city, grass fed beef (real beef) is not out of reach. Unlike ammonia treated beef, grass fed beef is clearly labeled and contains no ammonia.

Who cares I as an American can tell you majority of my countrymen are too ignorant and/or stupid to have known this already or care even though they're children are the ones eating it. Theyre too busy watching the kardashians to care.

Great America, just eat all the shit you can find, no problem. Keep the crap and stuff yourself with it, just please keep it within your own country, good appetite!

I grew up on real food, we killed our home-grown chickens and pigs by our own hand. If someone would want to feed me this shit I would just start puking.

Agradina, to my understanding, many people are too "busy" / too selfish / to brainwashed to care about the animals they pay others to kills. Just by reading some of the comments of this video makes me sad to see people assume anything they don't know (e.g. redblueandgray's). I am a vegan because, at the very least, I love animals and myself. Won't pay anything to co-operation like McDonalds. Just not worth it :-)

The worst thing is that the makers of "pink slime" will do anything to keep the general population from being educated about this.

Not to mention, most vegetables are grown in animal feces (which makes me really wonder how veganism would work).

Yes. But don't tell these dumb twits how stuff like Jell-O is made. I think if they found out that gelatin (the main ingredient in jello) is made from steamed animal bones, they'd have an aneurism knowing they shoveled it in their kids mouths. But it's okay because it's a sugary treat. People are so stupid nowadays and will get upset about anything if the TV tells them to.

Its the fact that the fda are not giving the consumer the choice because they dont lable it. They are now being convinced by dairy manufacturers to be able to put artificial sweeteners im milk without lables. I wonder how much cash that will take to push through.

The Meat Industry in America pays millions of dollars in advertising to keep the general population ignorant about where our food comes from. We're supposed to trust our VOTED organizations (USDA, FDA etc.) to maintain standards but often they are in bed with the company. 90 percent of America's meat comes from 4 distributors. ALL of them use antibiotics and pesticides as well as GMOs. Bottom lines is it is YOUR responsibility to find our where your food comes from and how it was treated.
