It's official: Joe Ayoob and John Collins are the new Guinness World Record holders:

"The farthest flight by a paper aircraft is 69.14 meters (226 feet 10 inches), achieved by Joe Ayoob and aircraft designer John M. Collins (both USA), at McClellan Air Force Base, in North Highlands, California, USA on 26 February 2012."

Great gliders have a broader wingspan. Great darts have great structural integrity but no real gliding ability. By using the best of both ideas, I created an airplane capable of withstanding launch forces and gliding. In fact, I maximized performance by creating a dynamic dihedral concept, which minimizes drag at launch and creates more stability down range.

Hey John. What's next? I'd say the next big challenge would be to break the record without tape. Silence the critics. Problem is, you'd have to go back to the drawing board. I just don't see how it would be possible to flatten the folds enough to counter all of that drag, without tape. I never liked guinness's rules to begin with, as they are so random, and arbitrary. Good luck in whatever it is you're trying now.
