@northernstarlite. Great comment! You hit a very important piece on the cycle of violence. Academic researches have shown that majority of adults involved in domestic violence have witnessed violence growing up in their own family. However in our film, it wasn't our intention to characterize the neighbor as John's subconscious. We wanted to portray the actual conscious struggle that John had as he tried to balance his desire to be a good father/husband and his seemingly helpless situation.

Yaaas. I totally agree. Kids need discipline. shoot, I'm still a kid myself but at 17 I know the difference between abuse and discipline.

There was a lot of foreshadowing throughout the film. The boy flinching when the "neighbor" reached out, the drinking, the smoking, the financial restraint (eviction notice), etc. Like Sun Kim said, abusers are not always abusing, and often appear perfectly normal in front of others. A loving father and husband can turn into a violent drunk in an instant.

    Hi Diana,

The nieghbor and the father is the same person. We wanted to show that there are split side to people who commit violence against their family; and the frustration of watching yourself do these things that he can't control.

    Thanks for watching
