Well as a black woman who at the age of 14 was savagely beaten; held down and FUCKED against my will like an animal by a white man. Let me tell you MY feelings. I didn't deserve what happened. I WAS the victim. But that does NOT give me the licence to profile and judge an entire race of men as if they're all the same. Black men don't owe you SHIT. In the same way white men dont owe me. If you want to be prejudice, FINE thats your business. But don't sit there and act like you dont have a choice.

The entire point of this movement is that G. Zimmerman shot T. Martin, an unarmed child. He followed Martin, because he looked suspicious, despite being told by a 911 operator that his action was not necessary. Zimmerman, who outweighed Martin by a hundred pounds, fought with the unarmed child and eventually killed him. It is not all clear that Martin jumped him, and it isn't clear that Zimmerman used reasonable force. The man needs to be arrested and tried.

If Trayvon Martin looked suspicious because of his hoodie, then half of our teenagers in high school look suspicious. Our high school is predominately white. Everyone is wearing hoodies. They all look like Trayvon. The most popular brands were cleaning up on hoodies before this. Hollister (like Trayvon is wearing), Pink, Abercrombie, Aeropostale. Those brands are what you would call the upper middle class brands. Bottom line, Zimmerman was wrong in his actions, there needs to be a trial, period.

when that man made the choice to get in his car that night with a loaded gun, he was looking for a confrontation. zimmerman had no reason to be out of his house that night, that child was screaming for help! i know that i wasnt there that night but the sad fact is that a 17 yr. old child who did not have any weapon on him was murdered, and yes he was MURDERED for no reason.

Its sickening, the things you guys are writing. There is clear evidence that the man that killed travyon used racial slurs against him before he killed him, that he chased him even after he was told not too and that trayvon was not armed, making it hard to use 'the self defense' route. This IS a racial issue, but has nothing to do with what African Americans can "get out of it." I mean lets be honest, in that WHITE neighborhood, if it had been a white teen the outcome would have way different!

What's annoying about some of these posts that some are talking about the usage of the hoodie like its a bad thing, it was raining so what he shouldn't of worn a hoodie in the rain. The fact is if Zimmerman hadn't stopped Trayvon would he have commited a crime no he would of gone home. You're right it doesn't matter about race a senseless killing is a senseless killing whatever race. I believe america needs to take away the right to bear arms.

Howard University is not an all-black university. Howard University looks like the world and does not receive funds from the UNCF. Howard University reflects Washington D.C. It would be ridiculous for Howard to be a "European" university in a diverse city.

I'm reading these comments and wow. I'm a black female, no gang affiliation, I have a black hoodie of my own actually and yes, I have been walking with my hoodie up, hands in my pockets, shoulders hunched. Not because I was looking for trouble but because it was cold, or windy, or raining, or I was thinking. If that's my reason why can't it be Trayvon's? Because he's black and MALE? Or am I suspicious too? What about my non gang banging little brother? Is he suspicious too?
