Hmm. How hot does it need to be to turn transparent? Would there be a problem if documents were left in a car on a hot day? It'd be pretty funny actually to hear about someone losing their important documents due to a hot summer day.

The real cost of printing is the ink not the paper.

When you print over and over onto the same page, you are essentially paying almost the same price as printing on different sheets with regular ink. Perhaps even more, depending upon the cost of the erasable ink.

I am assuming the printer can also print with regular ink as well, otherwise you would have to use this printer together a regular one

If you want save, don't print, use a phone, tablet and soon all touch PCs (thanks to Windows 8)

Actually you're half right and half wrong. It depends on your machine, volume, and cost per copy rate.

Most copier contracts in the mid to high volume range and on offset presses have a lower ink cost than the paper cost.

As for electronics, eventually the cost to recharge all these devices, the inevitable energy crisis, the radiation, and the non-biodegradable raw materials, and the cost and harm of battery disposal are far worse than ink on paper.

I can see a use for this type of printing and erasing though. Take application forms as an example. If the blank form is printed using normal ink and then filled in using the pens with the erasable ink the form could be reused with some added heat. The cost would obviously be factor though. They'd need to find out whether it's more cost effective to use the special pens or simply photocopy more.

how many times have we printed papers that we didn't like and threw them in the trash, even if the ink was more expensive than the normal ink in the market, it would still give us an option of recycling. for example I could print a 40 page handout for a certain subject in college then at the end of the semester I'd erase and reuse the 40 pages instead of throwing it away.
