Help organise a mass demo to defend the NHS!!!
VOTE NOW for the proposal entitled: "Organise a huge march against the Health & Social Care Bill" on the 38 Degrees website. See link for more details.

http://38degrees.uservoice.com/forums...
Andrew Lansley visits the Royal Free, one of the hospitals of the NHS, which he and other private healthcare lobbyists masquerading as MPs from the 3 main British political parties intend to hand over to the same private 'healthcare' multinationals that run the racket in the US.

Slightly siller version of the video:http://www.facebook.com/video/video.p...

A rally to save the NHS was held on 7 March 2012, a proper big demo is still pending and there is no shortage of people willing to take part. Just needs organising.

Will post any updates here, for whatever that's worth.

To mount a proper demo about this, the organisation 38 Degrees would be a key partner. They currently have a proposal on their website for such a demo which is up for votes! Everybody: Sign up now to 38 Degrees (which is worth doing anyway) and VOTE for the demo. This is far more than urgent. Link in description.

38 Degrees polled its members on whether to give up on fighting for the NHS, and the poll's just come back with 96% voting to keep fighting for it. A 38 Degrees member was at a recent meeting on organising for the NHS, so it looks from that like they are on board.

They don't care that it's not wanted. They want to privatise everything - the NHS, the police, schools - they get that we don't want these things, they just think we're too stupid and apathetic to stop them.

The US spends $4,000/head MORE on their profit driven healthcare then Brits do on their NHS. For all that extra spending, they leave 50 million people uncovered, millions more under insured, have similar staffing levels, a lower life expectancy and a higher infant mortality with health bills being the number 1 reason for bankrupcy & homelessness.

That's what you get from private health, or as Cameron/Lansley call it.. a more 'competitive' health system.

    COMPETITION DOESN'T WORK IN HEALTHCARE.

competition is a good rustic ideal, but in practice information asymmetry, power differentials, irrational market actors and cronyism means people will seek ways around it

Commons are a good rustic ideal, but in practice competition means people will seek ways round them (e.g. the situation with Britain keeping the Falklands so they can exploit the 'commons' of the Antarctic in a few years time).

And what about the new commons? The NHS, education, benefits, quangos, etc? The state holds more things in common than it ever did before.

the commons include things other than the state. rivers, forests, mineral rights and fishing rights all used to be held in common

Why then was the government 10% of the economy in 1900 and is now 40%? Doesn't sound like a trend towards "privatising the commons"...
