The first initial Amtrak 165MPH test runs performed between Lincoln and Morris on Track 3 of the NEC between 10:30PM & 3:45AM. The Acela was equipped with Inspection car #10003 to analyze the Acela's performance. On the last trip, Amtrak decided to go over the 165MPH and try 170MPH but only made it to 167.8MPH (Confirmed by Amtrak Officials) before getting alarms. Amtrak also decide not to perform the 8th (last) run due to lack of track usage time so instead of the last run being from Lincoln to Morris, it was from Morris to Lincoln allowing them to just head straight back to Sunnyside Yard after. (Taken 9/24-25/12)

@Mitch Goldman Top speed recorded that night/morning was 167.2-167.8 before the truck hunting alarm went off in the power car. I have plenty of confirmation of this. I will update the page info when I get the chance. And yeah the media seems to always mess up news related to rail down to the photos and video. One news program used video of an E60 sitting in Penn!

1:07 did you really need to be that close? What if you got plowed by another train behind you?

The other tracks were quarantined off, so no other trains would have been going thru during testing.

He could have stood on track's 1 or 4 and he wouldn't have been hit by any trains. I mean, that's an incredibly stupid thing to do, but he could have done it while the tests were going on.

The only track closed was the track the set was testing on. All other tracks were open and did have traffic, one of them being a NJT equipment move to Morrisville Yard.

I have a question; are you chasing the same train at each stations, or are there more than one running at different timings? its like the concorde on rails but without the sonic boom

It's the same train at the same station passing by at different speeds.

Here's a thought: Why don't we create job's in America by building a high speed rail network ? Plenty of jobs to go around for everyone. Oh, wait I'm not in charge... Great video though, enjoyed the sound of Acela .

Good! Don't let the airplane door hit you on the way out! Revoke your citizenship as a American and become a resident on one of those countries you've mentioned! Singapore? If you spit gum on the street your going to get flogged! The Asian countries all have mostly homogenous societies that aren't speaking English, wow you must ready to live elsewhere and u speak all of these languages! Please, go back to ur hidden identity, ur avatar & ur Whitney Houston & plane videos, you old queen!

And, i'm sorry, we're the only nation in the world that has 'freedoms' lol? You wrote all of this, and I'm struggling to find one thing of substance. It just sounds like you're making excuses to justify why America is a shit hole, and why we have lost the lead in everything. I can move to the UK, France, The Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, and be able to live exactly as you described, and get FREE healthcare in many of those nations to boot! Enjoy living is blissful ignorance.
