Got a ticket for the same thing...the cop was parked so as to be blocking the bike lane...when I went round him he gave me a ticket...I just smiled and accepted it...But he didn't know I had a helmet cam...took it to court and showed the judge the video from the helmet cam and he laid into the police officer for his gross stupidity. I then sued the city and won a $25,000 settlement....the cop got fired and the mayor himself apologized to me.

Casey, come here in Russia and you'll see NO bike lanes, no tickets for this but you'll not get even 50% safely through the whole city comparingly to NY, LA or other major cities in US. Just ignore stupid cops, ride from them and you'll not get any stupid "bicycle tickets". Be smart (not a "dumb ass" as I've called you on the facebook's new of my friend)...

I wish you to see our roads and footways to become more tolerant to your local reality. As we like to say here "we wish your troubles..." ;)

I don't think you realise what the point here is. It's about having to go around something that shouldn't be there. How would you like it if in the middle of the road blocking every single lane, there was some kind of blockade for no reason whatsoever. Also that it wasn't illegal and he had to pay a ticket.
